Villa in Croatia with Heated Pool

Holiday villa in Croatia with heated pool: heating included end of March–October, so you can swim in April, May, September & October. Honestly explained.

A villa in Croatia with a heated pool sounds like a luxury, but in reality it's mainly a question of the calendar: it decides whether you can actually swim in April, May, September and October, or just sit at the edge of the pool. At our three villas in Kaštel Stari, between Split and Trogir, the large saltwater pool is heated from the end of March to October – included in the final price, with no advance booking and no daily surcharge. Here's what that means in practice, and where the limits are.

Why heating doubles the swimming season

In spring and autumn, the sea off Kaštela is simply too cold for long days of swimming. Our figures from experience, from the guide to the shoulder season:

Month Sea (approx.) What that means
April 15–16 °C Sea only for the brave, the pool is where you swim
May approx. 18 °C Sea for the hardy, everyone else in the pool
September approx. 23 °C Sea and pool, the best of both worlds
October approx. 20 °C The pool becomes the main attraction again

A pool set to a pleasant temperature doesn't care what the Adriatic is doing. That turns roughly three months of summer swimming into around seven. For families with small children, couples who aren't tied to school holidays, and anyone who avoids the heat of high summer, this is often the reason to travel in the shoulder season at all.

What "included" actually means here

At many holiday homes, pool heating is an extra that only appears in the small print – often as a daily charge, not uncommonly somewhere in the region of 30 to 60 euros a day, and precisely in the months when you need it. Over a week, that quickly adds up to several hundred euros. With us:

  • Pool and hot tub heating is included in the final price shown, just like final cleaning, tourist tax, electricity, water, linen, Wi-Fi and parking.
  • You don't need to add anything or ring anyone on the day you arrive – the heating runs continuously during the season.
  • The pool and hot tub can be controlled independently of each other.
  • The only possible extra is the dog fee (€79 per dog per stay), and you'll see that in the final price before you book too.

Checklist: questions to ask every provider

If you're comparing offers, it pays to ask specific questions about any "heated pool" – wherever you book:

  1. In which months is it heated – and from which date exactly?
  2. Does heating cost extra, per day or as a flat fee? Does it have to be ordered in advance?
  3. Is the main pool heated, or just a hot tub or small plunge pool?
  4. Is there a minimum stay before heating is provided?
  5. How big is the pool? For comparison: Just be Alive's is 8.50 × 3.50 m, Just be Light's 3.50 × 10 m.

Honestly: in winter, only the hot tub is warm

From November to March the large pool rests. During this period only the hot tub is heated – so the large pool is explicitly not warm all year round. If you'd still like to use the large pool in winter, it can be heated on request; we then charge only the actual electricity costs. In winter we mostly rent the villas by the month (minimum stay of one month from November to April). What a warm hot tub means on cool evenings is described on our page Villa in Croatia with Hot Tub.

Also honestly: towards the end of October the first seasonal restaurants close, and the bura wind can make the odd day cool and blustery. If you mainly want long days in the sea and beach bars into the night, July or August will suit you better.

Which villa suits you?

All three houses have a heated saltwater pool and a hot tub, five bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and space for up to ten guests.

  • Villa Just be Alive – 8.50 × 3.50 m pool with an integrated, separately heated hot tub area, sea views, gym.
  • Villa Just be Light – the longest pool (3.50 × 10 m), separately heated hot tub, secluded pool area.
  • Villa Just be Happy – pool with hot tub area on the large terrace overlooking the bay.
