A multi-generational holiday in Croatia is different from a trip with friends: grandparents want peace and quiet and short distances, parents want a few hours to themselves, children want water and activity – and everyone wants a long table together in the evening. At our three villas in Kaštel Stari, between Split and Trogir, we've hosted many family trips like this. Here's what really matters, and where you should look more closely before booking.
Every bedroom with its own bathroom
For grandparents, this is often the most important point: no trip down the corridor at night, no waiting for a shared bathroom, no fitting in around the grandchildren's routine. In all three villas, each of the five bedrooms has its own bathroom, plus there's a guest WC or guest bathroom.
Other details that make the stay easier for older guests:
- Air conditioning and heating in every room, individually controlled – if you like it cooler or warmer, you set it yourself.
- Underfloor heating in the bathrooms at Just be Alive and Just be Light.
- Good beds: king-size box-spring beds at Just be Alive and Just be Light, double beds at Just be Happy.
- Blackout curtains at Just be Happy for an afternoon nap – whether you're five or 75.
A short transfer – a win for every generation
Split Airport is around 10 minutes from our villas. Instead of a two-hour transfer after a flight, your suitcases are quickly in the house. Self check-in from 4pm (PIN pad at Alive and Light, key box at Happy) works even if you land late – and if you'd like, someone from our team will show you around the villa.
Time apart and time together
Ten people from three generations need more than one big room.
- Together: a dining table for ten indoors, an outdoor kitchen with barbecue, and at Alive and Light an additional outdoor lounge and dining table for ten. If you enjoy cooking, you'll find a fully equipped kitchen with induction hob, oven and dishwasher.
- Apart: a shady terrace for the grandparents, the pool for the children, a bedroom with its own door where a baby can sleep while the conversation carries on outside.
- Evenings: grandparents babysit while the parents head into Split (approx. 25 minutes) or Trogir (approx. 10 minutes) for the evening. Or the other way round.
- For the little ones: we provide a cot, high chair and baby monitor free of charge. More under Family Holiday in a Villa.
Two houses side by side – when there are more than ten of you
Extended families quickly go beyond ten. Just be Alive and Just be Light are right next to each other and together sleep up to 20 guests. The set-up that works well for many families: one house on the quieter side, one livelier – and in the evening everyone meets at one of the two tables. With Just be Happy, up to 30 guests are possible, though that house is a little further away. More on this under Villa for Large Groups.
Honestly: stairs and accessibility
Our villas are not designated as accessible. There's a ground floor and an upper floor, some bedrooms are upstairs, and depending on the house there are open staircases. If someone in your group finds stairs difficult or uses a walking frame or wheelchair, please ask us before booking. We'll tell you exactly which rooms are where and whether the house will work for you – and we'll be upfront if it won't.
Equally honestly: a car is useful for excursions. The beach is around 1 km away (10–15 minutes on foot) along ordinary residential streets; the promenade itself is flat and easy to walk.
Which villa suits you?
- Villa Just be Alive – trampoline and gym for the active ones, sea views from the terrace for everyone else.
- Villa Just be Light – five equal king-size bedrooms, so no debate about who gets the "good" room.
- Villa Just be Happy – quiet cul-de-sac, large terrace with views over the bay.
How to split ten people fairly between the rooms is covered under Villa for 10 People.
