Villa Near Split Airport

You usually remember a journey for its final stretch: the drive from the airport to your accommodation. If you have ever sat for two hours in a transfer bus after a late evening flight while a tired child cries in the back, you know the difference compared with a ten-minute drive.

Split airport is not in Split

Split airport (SPU) carries the name of the city but is not located there. It sits in the municipality of Kaštela, around twenty kilometres west of the city centre. So if you stay overnight in Split after landing, you first drive away from the airport. If you stay in Kaštel Stari, you have practically arrived: it is ten minutes from Villa Just Be Happy to the terminal, and our two other houses are in the same town. That is one of the shortest transfer routes you can get on the Adriatic.

What short distances mean in practice

Arrival day remains a holiday day

Between the baggage belt and your front door there is a quarter of an hour with us, not half an evening. Instead of a shared transfer with several stops, your suitcases are in the hallway while it is still light outside. For families with small children, that is often the difference between a relaxed first evening and a night that starts at two in the morning.

Late arrivals are no problem

Cheap flights often land late in the evening. Check-in with us is self-service – via a digital PIN pad (Just be Alive & Just be Light) or a key box (Just be Happy). You can get into the house even after midnight, without anyone having to wait for you and without apologising for a delay. If you like, you are welcomed in person the next morning and shown the corners of the area that you won't find in guidebooks.

The last day stays usable

With a late-afternoon flight you don't need to plan a three-hour buffer. Breakfast on the terrace, one last jump into the pool, then pack – and still be at the desk in good time. The same applies the other way round for early departures: getting up at half past four is unpleasant, but it stays a single early start and not a sleepless night.

Honest words on aircraft noise

Airports and quality of living initially sound like a contradiction. In practice, air traffic is not a defining sound in the residential streets of Kaštel Stari: the houses stand in quiet side streets of an established residential area, not by the runway, and SPU is a regional holiday airport with a single terminal, not a hub with night operations. If you are particularly sensitive to noise, ask us before booking – we will describe the location as it is, instead of selling you a picture.

A hire car still makes sense

A short route to the airport doesn't replace a car. The beach, bakery, restaurants and supermarket can be reached on foot, but for Trogir, the centre of Split, the beaches further west or excursions into the hinterland you need a vehicle. The handy part is that the car hire desks are right at the terminal: you collect the car and ten minutes later park it in the villa's private parking space. Every one of our houses comes with one.

Our houses in Kaštel Stari

All three villas lie between Split and Trogir and share the same basic equipment:

• Washing machine, which matters on longer stays and with small children

Villa Just Be Happy has five bedrooms with private bathrooms on 258 m², plus a heated saltwater pool and a hot tub; heated pools noticeably extend the season and are collected under villas with a heated pool and hot tub . With a baby or small children

The younger your travelling companions, the more a short transfer counts. We provide baby equipment on request, so you don't have to carry a travel cot and high chair through half the airport. What is possible is described under holidays with a baby in Croatia .
