An arrival is usually remembered for its final stage: the drive from the airport to the accommodation. Anyone who has ever spent two hours on a transfer bus after a delayed evening flight, with a tired child crying at the back, knows the difference a ten-minute drive makes.

Split Airport is not in Split

Split Airport (SPU) carries the name of the city but is not located there. It lies in the municipality of Kaštela, around twenty kilometres west of the city centre. So anyone staying in Split after landing first drives away from the airport. Anyone staying in Kaštel Stari has essentially already arrived: from Villa Just Be Happy it is ten minutes to the terminal, and our two other houses are in the same town. That makes it one of the shortest transfers you will find on the Adriatic.

What short distances actually mean

Your arrival day stays a holiday day

Between the baggage belt and the front door lies a quarter of an hour, not half an evening. Instead of a shared transfer with several stops, the suitcases are in the hallway while it is still light outside. For families with small children, that is often the difference between a relaxed first evening and a night that starts at two in the morning.

Late arrivals are not a problem

Inexpensive flights often land late in the evening. Check-in with us works on your own – by touchpad or key box. You can get into the house after midnight without anyone having to wait up for you and without apologising for a delay. If you like, we will welcome you in person the following morning and point out the corners of the area that are not in the guidebooks.

The last day remains usable

With a flight in the late afternoon, you do not need to build in a three-hour buffer. Breakfast on the terrace, a final swim, then packing – and still be at the desk in good time. The same applies in reverse to early departures: getting up at half past four is unpleasant, but it stays one early start rather than a sleepless night.

An honest word about aircraft noise

Airports and residential calm sound like a contradiction at first. In practice, air traffic is not a defining sound in the residential streets of Kaštel Stari: the houses stand in quiet side streets of an established neighbourhood, not beside the runway, and SPU is a regional holiday airport with a single terminal, not a hub operating through the night. If you are particularly sensitive to noise, ask us before booking – we will describe the location as it is rather than sell you a picture.

A hire car still makes sense

A short trip to the airport does not replace a car. The beach, the bakery, restaurants and the supermarket are within walking distance, but for Trogir, the centre of Split, the beaches further west or trips into the hinterland you will need a vehicle. Conveniently, the rental desks are right at the terminal: you pick up the car and park it ten minutes later in the villa's private parking space. Each of our houses has one.

Our houses in Kaštel Stari

All three villas lie between Split and Trogir and share the same basic equipment:

  • Private pool and your own outdoor area
  • Air conditioning in all rooms and heating in every room
  • Fibre-optic Wi-Fi, suitable for working days too
  • Outdoor kitchen with a barbecue
  • Washing machine, which counts on longer stays and with small children
  • Private parking
  • Dogs are welcome

Villa Just Be Happy has five bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms across 258 m², plus a heated saltwater pool and a whirlpool; heated pools noticeably extend the season and are gathered under villas with a heated pool and whirlpool. Villa Just Be Alive and Villa Just Be Light have three bedrooms each. You can see all the houses under Villas.

Travelling with a baby or small children

The younger your travelling companions, the more a short transfer counts. We provide baby equipment on request so that you do not have to carry a travel cot and a high chair across half the airport. You can read what is possible under Holiday with a baby in Croatia.
